Sweet potatoes are in season in the fall! Compared to white potatoes, sweet potatoes offer a higher amount of fiber and vitamin A.1 But, they have about the same in terms of glycemic index.2 Also provides vitamins c, potassium, and vitamin B6.1,2
It is well known that grapefruit provides an excellent source of vitamin C, but it also is a good source of fiber and vitamin A.3 When choosing citrus fruits at the grocery store, the heavier the fruit, the juicier it will be! It may be tempting to choose the juiced option instead of the whole fruits, but whole fruits should be chosen over fruit juices because they contain more fiber.4 Also, drinking fruit juice can contain a lot of sugars with very little fiber, so blood sugars rise very quickly.
